Technology Literacy
This is a 12 week course which focuses on the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards. Students create an online e-portfolio on their own blog/website using Weebly. The entire course is interactive and online using the Google Classroom Learning Management System with classroom student collaboration and teacher support.

Coding 7
This is a 7th grade introductory course for basic programming. All project-based assignments utilize open-source programming tool called Scratch. In addition, students learn to program a Finch Robot Using Code.Org Lessons. Students create an online e-portfolio on their own blog/website using Weebly. The entire course is interactive, online and utilizes Moodle Learning Management System with classroom student collaboration and teacher support.

Coding Level 2 / Advanced Computers 8
This is an 8th grade introductory course in basic 3D programming. All project-based assignments utilize open-source programming tool called Alice. In addition, students learn to program a Finch Robot. Students create an online e-portfolio on their own blog/website using Weebly The entire course is interactive, online, and utilizes Moodle with classroom student collaboration and teacher support.

Digital Media 7
This is a 7th grade introductory course utilizing technology to expand creative expression and communication. Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge and use digital media to communicate, educate, and entertain others. Students create an online e-portfolio on their own blog/website using Weebly. The entire course is interactive, online, and utilizes Edmodo Learning Management System with classroom student collaboration and teacher support.

Digital Media 8
This is an 8th grade introductory course utilizing technology to expand creative expression and communication. Video Production
This course is a project-based learning experience over twelve weeks, that introduces students to the basics of video production. Students work collaboratively in a micro-society learning format taking on various video production roles - director, editor, videographer, lead talent, and supporting talent. Students are blazing a trail by working collaboratively as a team to produce a valuable, authentic video for our greater community. Video editing software is Pinnacle Studio 17.

2017-2018 Is This the Real Me?
Modular Technology
Modular Technology is for students who desire a unique learning experience that focuses on academic, technical and work behavior skills. This course is an introduction to various career and technical education programs: woodworking, metalworking, computer-aided drafting, engineering, manufacturing, space and rocketry, robotics, electronics and flight simulation. Machines and equipment will be explained thoroughly with an emphasis on safety. Students rotate through three to four learning modules every 10 days completing beginning level projects within this trimester-long class. Exceptional students’ projects may be selected to enter in the Michigan Industrial & Technology Education Society (MITES) competition at the Middle School Level!

MACUL Student Technology Showcase
For several years my students have participated in the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) Student Technology Showcase. This is hosted in Detroit, Grand Rapids and at the Capitol in Lansing, Michigan. St. Johns Middle School students embrace learning in a totally paperless environment! Both in the classroom and beyond, students access all course material through Moodle. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills on their student-developed Weebly blogs and by completing collaborative projects using applications in Google Drive. Students showcase what they have learned in their Basic and Advanced courses which provide students a scaffold, project/quest-based digital learning experience over twelve weeks. Various projects feature Moodle, Weebly, Google Applications, Bubbl.us, Prezi, Jing, Camtasia, Paint.net, ArtRage Demo, Code .org, Pinnacle Studio, and Scratch.
